If you have a microphone attached to your computer, you can add audio recordings to your entries. If you own a newer laptop you already have a microphone. Other Macs may also have built-in microphones. To find out if you have a mic, open your System Preferences and choose Sound then Input.

Launch the Audio Recorder by choosing Record Audio from the Insert Audio/Video item in the Edit menu. At launch the Title, Artist, and iTunes Album are automatically set. Press the red circle to begin recording. Press the same button to stop recording.

As soon as you finish recording the audio center switches into preview mode so you can listen to the material you've just recorded. If you're pleased with the record press the now active Insert button to add it to the foremost entry.

Tip: hold down the alt/option key when launching the audio window to keep the recorder visible no matter what application you are using.

AIFF to MP3

Press the Insert button to save your recording to your entry. Journler will encode the saved material into an mp3 using the LAME encoding engine by way of Lynn Pye's LAME framework and Quicktime component. Many thanks to Lynn and the folks at LAME as well as David over at kTunes. When the encoding is complete Journler adds the mp3 to your iTunes music library and the Journler playlist. If you have not checked this option, Journler saves the mp3 on your computer alongside your entry.
